Background Radiation Monitoring Station TR14
The human body is exposed to permanent radioactive background radiation. Approximately one half of the dose rate is cosmic radiation where the other half is terrestrial radiation. Cosmic radiation is a complex of gamma radiation, X-ray and neutrons. Terrestrial radiation on one side is of natural origin such as minerals, geological deposits and gases. On the other side waste products of industry and medicine contribute considerably to environmental contamination.

ust be aware that through incidents like accidents in nuclear power plants large areas can become danger zones over night. Not to speak of nuclear weapons, which are a permanent threat. Many countries have installed tracking stations monitoring background radiation in their territory. However these data often are not available to the public. What is urgently needed is a worldwide network with the capability to inform the public on the actual background contamination in their region of interest.
Teviso supports a project for setting up an international monitoring network. The data collected through this network will be published in the Internet, showing live the actual background radiation of any particular area of interest.
